In a hilarious and unexpected turn, Bud Light brought a touch of medieval mayhem to Super Bowl LIII with a trio of quirky commercials titled “Trojan Horse Occupants,” “Joust,” and “Special Delivery.” Created by the advertising powerhouse Wieden + Kennedy New York, these ads offered a refreshingly lighthearted take on the high-pressure Super Bowl ad landscape.

Trojan Horse Occupants: This 15-second spot takes viewers inside a giant wooden Trojan Horse. Two nervous-looking men whisper about the ingredients of Bud Light, clearly out of place in their ancient setting. The ad’s humor lies in the absurdity of the situation and the deadpan delivery of the lines.

Joust: This commercial features two knights jousting on horseback, with a can of Bud Light strapped to one knight’s lance. The victor claims the prize, triumphantly raising the beer can in the air. This playful ad cleverly uses a classic medieval competition to showcase the brand.

Special Delivery: The final installment sees a catapult launching a crate labeled “Bud Light” over a castle wall. The humor comes from the unexpected reveal of a single can of Bud Light nestled precariously inside the large crate. This ad subverts expectations with its anticlimactic delivery.

The “Trojan Horse Occupants,” “Joust,” and “Special Delivery” campaign was a hit with audiences. Praised for its originality, wit, and clever use of the medieval theme, the ads resonated with viewers seeking a break from the often-serious nature of Super Bowl commercials. The campaign also effectively highlighted the lighthearted and easy-drinking nature of Bud Light.
